A Few Notes from My Kitchen
Just like every handwritten recipe has its quirks, it’s good to keep a few things in mind when you’re cooking from our little corner of the internet. This isn’t the same as having a seasoned cook right there beside you, so please consider the following:
Nutritional Tidbits
Any nutritional information provided on this site, if present, is an estimation. It’s calculated using online tools and should not be considered professional dietary advice. Just like the exact measurement of a ‘pinch’ varies from cook to cook, these numbers are a guide, not a gospel. Every ingredient is unique, and so are our bodies.
Recipe Adventures & Results
While I put great care into testing and sharing recipes that work for me in my ‘Simple Studio Apartment’ kitchen, individual results may vary. Ovens are temperamental, ingredients differ, and even the humidity in your kitchen can change things. Just as those old handwritten recipes encourage, use your instincts! Adjust as needed. If something doesn’t come out quite right, don’t fret; it’s all part of the learning and the fun of cooking.
Allergy Awareness
My recipes often feature common ingredients. It is your responsibility to be aware of any food allergies or dietary restrictions you or your guests may have. I will sometimes note common allergens, but please always read ingredient labels carefully and make substitutions where necessary. I cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur if you are in a shared kitchen space, so always err on the side of caution.
Use Your Judgment
Finally, just like a good cook learns to trust their gut over a rigid rule, use your common sense in the kitchen. Make sure your cooking practices are safe, your food is handled properly, and if a dish doesn’t look or smell right, it’s always best to discard it. Your health and safety are paramount.
